Hoofing it to Healing: Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP):
Based on our beautiful farm, in the company of our amazing horse friends. This is a hands-on, nature based program where individuals can explore their challenges and concerns with the help of horses and therapists. Very different than traditional talk therapy, EFP can offer many facets of growth and healing through interacting and learning from the horses. The horse is a critical partner in EFP because they have highly sensitive prey instincts that cause them to recognize and react in a way that provides immediate biofeedback to our current state of mind. They can help you work through skills and recognize things that may not be easily seen otherwise. The equine's unique, non-judgmental personalities help us define our challenges and move towards our strengths and growth. This program is client led and we work with you to establish your goals. Horse Warriors: Therapeutic Horsemanship & Equine Assisted Learning (Ground only at this time) Activities are based on horsemanship and learning activities in a way that can have positive effects on healing and healthy daily living. Programs are fun, interactive, and challenging. Riding is offered but not required. However, due to our horses' sizes and age, we do have a weight limit of 170 lbs at this time. Horsemanship can be done completely on the ground. Interacting with the horse, aides in balance and coordination, centers people, teaches valuable communication skills, strengthens emotional bonds, and builds trust, respect, and confidence. The goal of the program is to complement other therapy or to provide a fun and healing alternative for those who are seeking something a little "outside the box" to help them recover from injury, feel empowered, reconnect, feel encouraged, and more. For safety reasons, the mounted program does have weight restrictions, however we can do ground programs if riding is not an option. |
Our services are offered to EMS personnel, active duty and retired veterans at NO COST in honor of their dedicated service to our county, state, and country.
Ground based group services are also available for couples and families and can provide much needed bonding time outside the stressors of daily life. For riding programs for families of service members please contact the office to discuss options.
All services must occur on an ongoing basis for at least one month. We do not offer one time services/rides.
Saving Grace Farm's Therapeutic Horsemanship Programs are taught by Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors who are trained to partner with horses to help you learn and grow.
Our Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy Programs are provided by Licensed Mental Health Counselors who partner with our Equines and a Certified Equine Specialist to aid in safety, harmony, and effectiveness of services.
