Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an interactive process in which a licensed mental health professional, working with a credentialed equine professional, partners with horses to address psychotherapy goals set forth by the mental health professional and the client.
Suitable for people struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, mental health disorders, eating disorders, etc. These services are based on our beautiful farm, in the company of our amazing horse friends. This is a hands-on, nature based program where individuals can explore their challenges and concerns with the help of horses. Very different than traditional talk therapy, EAP can offer many facets of growth and healing through interacting and learning from the horses. The horse is a critical partner in EAP because they have highly sensitive prey instincts that cause them to recognize and react in a way that provides immediate biofeedback to the participant's current state of mind. They often mirror human emotion or react in ways that helps the team more easily recognize the challenges the participant may be facing. The equine's unique, non-judgmental personalities help us define our challenges and move towards our strengths and growth. This program offers empowerment, connection, healing, growth, and more for those who choose to partake in the experience. This is primarily a ground only program, we do not typically ride in this program. Please contact our office with questions or to sign-up for this program. 704-209-6577 Or use the form to request starting the process. |
Please note: The EAP program is primarily a ground program where a Licensed Therapist and Equine Specialist help you toward your personal mental health goals. We DO NOT typically ride in this program.
If you are interested primarily in riding, please see our Therapeutic Horsemanship program. Therapeutic Horsemanship has many benefits but it is taught by a Certified Instructor, not a Licensed Therapist and is not considered mental health therapy. |
